Biography
Angela S. Brown is the visionary founder and CEO of “The Blueprint of Success: The Bridge from Welfare Entrapment to Self-Sufficiency.” With over two decades of experience in the US Federal Government, Angela is committed to empowering individuals trapped in the cycle of welfare dependency and low-income.
Born and raised in the Henry Horner housing projects on Chicago’s Westside, and later in the Englewood community on the Southside, Angela’s upbringing was marked by adversity. Following the sudden death of her mother and her father’s struggles with illiteracy, mental illness, and alcohol abuse, Angela faced homelessness, exploitation, and trauma from a young age.
Determined to overcome her circumstances, Angela pursued education as a means of forging a brighter future. She earned her GED and pursued an associate degree in accounting at Robert Morris University, all while raising seven children as a single mother. Angela’s tenacity and work ethic led her to roles at top companies including Nicor Services, BP US Headquarters, and Merrill Lynch.
Continuing her educational journey, Angela obtained her bachelor’s degree in Disability Law and her master’s degree in Applied Professional Studies from DePaul University. She is currently a doctoral candidate for her Ph.D. in Community Psychology at National Louis University, where she is on the cusp of graduation with honors of Distinction.
Angela’s commitment to service extends beyond academia. She is actively involved in organizations such as the American Legion of Evergreen Park post 865, the NAACP, and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition. She has been recognized for her academic excellence and community contributions, receiving awards such as “Woman of the Year” at DePaul University in 2015.
As the president of the charitable organization Shells of Success (S.O.S), Angela spearheads initiatives to uplift communities through charitable deeds. Her dedication to mentoring, motivational speaking, and community service has earned her the moniker “The Modern-Day Harriet Tubman.”
In her personal life, Angela is happily married to Anthony Brown, with whom she shares eight children and four grandchildren. Together, they instill values of education, empathy, and community involvement in their family.
Angela’s ultimate goal is to revolutionize low-income programming, ensuring recipients are educated on its purpose and empowered to achieve self-sufficiency. Through “The Blueprint of Success,” Angela envisions a future where all individuals have access to the resources and support needed to thrive.
